    Abstract:

    Chronic alcohol consumption can induce cognitive impairment, whereby the exact mechanism remains unknown. Elevated plasma homocysteine level are closely related to cognitive impairment in alcohol-dependent patients. This article reviews the research of homocysteine and cognitive impairment in alcohol dependent patients,from the aspects of biological effects of homocysteine, the relationship between homocysteine and alcohol-related cognitive impairment, and treatment progress.
